Power over Ethernet (PoE) HAT for Raspberry Pi
- Brands Raspberry Pi Code: HAT-POE
Note: Since 8th Nov 2018, the PoE HAT is the latest stock that fixed the USB power issue. Please check the release from Raspberry Pi Foundation
It is finally here, the official PoE HAT for Raspberry Pi 4 Model B and Raspberry Pi 3B+, you can power your Raspberry Pi just by using PoE compliance router, network switch or adapter, of course, the Ethernet cable must be connected. As you might have known, the power pins on RJ45 socket (Ethernet) are being extended out to header pins on Raspberry Pi 4 Model B and 3B+. But due to the board size, compatibility and cost, the PoE module is not built on the mainboard. Thus, this HAT is necessary to tab the power from the additional PoE power header pins and convert it to stable power for the Raspberry Pi.
Oh, did I mentioned? It is designed with full isolate Switched-Mode Power Supply (SMPS) which supports the PoE power input range of 37 to 57VDC and converts it into 5V, 2.5A (Max). On top of that, there is a brushless fan pointing at the processor which is controllable via I2C (40-pin GPIO). How awesome is that!
Note: By the way, you can only use it with Raspberry Pi 4 Model B (1G, 2G, 4G) and Raspberry Pi 3 B+, not 3, not Zero, please do take note on that.
