Note: From 27th May 2021 onwards, the USB 3.0 to 2.5" SATA SSD Expansion Base has been updated to the new version, V2.0.
Some new features of USB 3.0 to 2.5" SSD Expansion board for Raspberry Pi 4 Model B V2.0:
Add 4 test pins to achieve power between X825 V2.0 and Raspberry Pi 4 Model B without additional cable. You can get power from the Pi4's Type-C port or X825 V2.0 DC JACK power socket.
Use a shorter USB 3.0 jumper/connector
The X825 expansion board provides a complete storage solution for the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B, it supports up to 4TB 2.5-inch SATA hard disk drives (HDD) / Solid-State Drive (SSD). Only 2.5 inch SATA interface HDD/SDD hard disk is suitable for the X825 Base.
The Raspberry Pi 4 Model B is configured to boot over the USB port and manages to get amazing data access speed through this board. Check out the short video on how you can install the expansion board to your Raspberry Pi 4 Model B:
However, Geekworm does not recommend using Samsung SSD because they found the EMC of Samsung SSD is quite high and might affect the operation.
Notes:
A microSD card is required to force the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B board to boot from USB as its "root" partition. All new Raspberry Pi 4 Model B are ready with USB boot. This step is not necessary anymore.
WARNING:DO NOT power your Raspberry Pi via the Pi's 40-pin header and type-C socket at the same time.
USB 3.0 devices might generate radio frequency interference that can cause Wi-Fi and other wireless devices operating in the 2.4GHz band to have issues communicating with your Raspberry Pi 4 Model B. To avoid interference on the 2.4GHz band using Wi-Fi, try using the 5GHz band instead. If the problem still exists, please turn off WiFi and use the wired network instead.
Warranty Period: 12 months

Supports up to 4TB 2.5-inch SATA hard disk drives (HDD) / solid-state drive (SSD) (Theoretically it can work with 6TB or 8TB as well. But we do not test the X825 base with 6TB or 8TB HDD, you can have a try)
